ReCinema 3.1: New Ground

Artist Statement: Bojeung Leung ReCinema 3.1: New Ground
Synesthesia. It’s like your brain collaging different senses. These associations between the senses can occur in any combination on any number of cognitive pathways. This is much like our conception of cinema — a succession of still photographs constantly moving to create the illusion of movement. As Gilles Deleuze argued, “cinema immediately gives us movement-image.” At its root, cinema is a collage of time, memory, thought, and speech. In ReCinema 3.1: New Ground, the sound and color sensations of synesthesia, expand the language of cinematic possibilities. The result is not linear or sequential, but a connection is implied as I meld these sense textures into unexpected compositions.
